MICHAEL GILLESPIE

CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER

Michael Gillespie is the Group Chief Commercial Officer for Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (DPE), overseeing the Data, Digital, Information Technology (IT), Marketing and Shared Services functions.

In this role, Michael is responsible for overseeing IT, marketing, e-commerce, Group S&I (Strategy and Insights including Data), Marketing and Shared Services across DPE’s 12 markets – Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia.

Michael leads an array of innovative data initiatives, most notably the world-leading predictive ordering solution. He has also been recognised as one of the top 30 data leaders to watch in 2023.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in marketing, from Griffith University, where he received three consecutive Annual Griffith Awards for Academic Excellence during his degree. He also attended the Stanford d.school where he completed a design thinking course to help the business unlock new ideas.

With more than 20 years’ experience in online marketing and digital strategy, Michael continues to adopt a forward-thinking approach, with extensive knowledge of the online space, to ultimately build sales momentum.

Michael’s experience with the Domino’s brand spans more than a decade. During this time, his vision and commitment have helped Domino’s transform into Australia’s most sophisticated online and digital retailer, with several advanced online ordering platforms and online initiatives.

Through Michael’s leadership, Domino’s has rolled out DPE’s global online ordering platform into its seven markets, while also driving digital sales growth and efficiencies.

He has achieved a number of world firsts in social media and online ordering including managing DRU (Domino’s Robotic Unit) Deliveries, DRU Drone by Flirtey New Zealand delivery in November 2016, Domino’s iPhone App launch in 2009 which reached the number one position in Apple’s App Store and launching Domino’s Virtual Assistant DRU Assist. Additionally, Michael has also played a key role in the development and implementation of a number of new digital technologies in 2020 including AWS and predictive ordering, Google Food Ordering, New Pizza Chef with Augmented Reality and the launch of Domino’s global Zero Contact Delivery method during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Michael works closely with influential global companies to develop best practices and is seen as a leader in the online space.

Before Domino’s, Michael worked at Virgin Blue (Virgin Australia), Australian Insurance Holdings (Budget Direct) and QBD The Bookshop.
