As Origin players gear up for the first game of 2018, Domino’s stores are training and preparing to deliver passionate footy fans thousands of pizzas around the Country.

Origin is the busiest night of the year for the Company, with 65% per cent of customers ranking pizza as their go-to ‘meal of choice’ for game night – ahead of BBQs, burgers, and fish and chips – in a recent Domino’s GPS Driver Tracker poll.

Domino’s CEO for Australia and New Zealand Nick Knight said stores in Queensland and New South Wales in particular were preparing to cook double the number of pizzas they would normally cook on a typical Wednesday night.

“It’s bigger than a busy Friday or Saturday night in our stores, and passionate footy fans are keen to have their meal delivered in a precise window – either around kick-off, or at half-time,” Mr Knight said.

“This puts extra pressure on our delivery drivers, who work hard to deliver hundreds of piping hot pizzas where, and when, our customers want them, but this is what we train for and we will be ready.”

Mr Knight said the preparation for tonight’s game had kicked off weeks ago, with stores ordering extra ingredients and rostering on and training extra team members.

“Just like the players, it’s all about the preparation work our stores put in ahead of the game – preparing fresh dough in-store, stocking fridges full of drinks, making sure every scooter and car is fuelled, and every e-bike fully charged.

“Just because it’s our busiest night of the year, doesn’t mean we’ll be dropping the ball.

Due to the popularity of pizza for game night, Domino’s is strongly encouraging customers to get in early and pre-order.

“There are some great specials on our website, or in our Offers App, for use in local stores and we are encouraging customers to place their orders in advance.

“We also have something for everyone on our menu, whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, dairy free or gluten free.

“That means people don’t need to order from multiple restaurants to meet different dietary requirements, and no one misses out on Origin night.”

“We’re only as good as the last pizza that went out our doors and every store will be on their ‘A Game’.

“It’s all about being slow where it matters – in making every pizza right – and fast where it counts – in hustling them out the door.

“We expect every slice on every pizza to match our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.”
