Celebrating International Women's Day
On March 8, Domino’s celebrated International Women's Day worldwide.
Not only does Domino’s celebrate the many great examples of successful women within our organisation, our women also support each other. Women from across Domino’s Netherlands came together at the Schoonhoven store on March 8, which franchisee Yous Syed opened February 28.
Yous Syed: ''A dream came true''
As a young girl, Yous started her career at Domino's Rotterdam. She was immediately in love with the world of Domino's. Yous: " After my first day in the store I told my family and friends: one day I will open my own Domino's store".
But before Yous opened her first store, she decided to learn about all aspects of Domino's: she baked and delivered pizzas, became store manager and eventually regional manager of several stores.
''Within Domino's we have great examples of female franchisees. If you have ambition, you can get where you want to go within this company. I am proud that at the age of 26 I can already be in the line of female franchisees.''
‘’Every pizza that leaves the store, should be my favorite’’
Yous likes to tell everyone what appeals to her so much in this business: ''With fresh ingredients, we make a delicious product. I really enjoy making pizzas.''
That's why Yous doesn't have a favourite pizza. ''Every pizza that leaves the store here has to be my favorite. In addition, I think personal contact with customers is very important. In my years at Domino's I have experienced that people know you as the face of the store. You have fixed delivery addresses and people who come to pick up in the store. It is important that you have time for a chat. As a franchisee you really are a local entrepreneur. For me, involvement with the place where I am located and the people who live there is the basis of it.’’
Helping each other realize ambitions
Manon Stoutjesdijk, spokesperson at Domino's Netherlands: ''The pizza business often seems like a man's business, but within Domino's we see many great success stories of female colleagues who 'stand their ground'. From female franchisees to delivery staff and from women working in the IT department to our CMO.''
‘’Helping each other is central to Domino's culture. That's also why the All Women Store was created. International Women's Day is a great opportunity to spend this day together as women, but it is even nicer to help each other realise their ambitions. We are very proud of Yous and that is why women from different roles rolled up their sleeves on March 8 to help her".
