DELIVERY DRIVER TURNED GLOBAL CEO TO PRESENT AT UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA
Food being delivered to your door via drone and artificial intelligence camera technology to quality check your pizza – these are just some of the new technologies set to roll out in Domino’s stores in Australia in the next year and Canberra students are set to get a slice of the action.
Domino’s Group CEO and Managing Director Don Meij will be presenting on the future of technology to University of Canberra (UC) business students on Thursday 18 October 2018.
“It’s a really exciting time in the food and delivery industry – the way technology is evolving and the pace at which it is moving means we are always trying to come up with the next innovative idea and amazing technology to bring to the market,” Mr Meij said.
“We are constantly thinking about how we can make the ordering process quicker and easier for our customers and getting their pizzas to their door faster.
“I’m looking forward to sharing these developments with the business students and future leaders of tomorrow at UC. At Domino’s, we’re passionate about supporting education and youth initiatives to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, scholars, leaders and creatives.”
Local Canberra multi-unit franchisee Chad Cable also supports budding entrepreneurs at the university through UC’s Rock’s Cool program.
“Every Thursday night, Domino’s Bruce delivers pizzas to the Rock’s Cool students to keep them going during their workshop sessions,” Mr Cable said.
“The program supports young, disadvantaged musicians to kickstart their careers by making connections, learning new skills, and improving their understanding of business and the music industry.
“We always try to help out the local community where we can, and this is a program that we’re really proud to get behind.”
Chad was also a part of a team who came up with the original concept for Domino’s new national giving initiative Round Up For Charity.
Customers can now round up their order to the nearest dollar and donate these funds to Domino’s registered charity Give for Good to support education and youth initiatives; leadership and entrepreneurship; rural communities; and disaster relief.
“It’s great to see Round Up for Charity finally getting off the ground and it puts a smile on my face to know that customers are contributing to charity and their local community,” he said.
