Milestone stores for both Domino’s Europe, and newest franchisees

This has been another year of milestones for Domino’s Pizza Enterprises, highlighted by strong store openings in Europe and Japan.

In October the company opened the 400th Domino’s branded store in France, which followed the opening of the first stores in Denmark, and the 300th Domino’s branded store in Germany.

France CEO Andrew Bradley said the 400th store, in Albi in southern France, was a significant step for the local business, but local management and franchisees were not resting on this success.

“We want to break our full year opening record of 33 organic new stores, and we are pleased with how we are tracking against this goal,” Andrew said.

“For our franchisee Rodrigue Barrot, this is an exciting next step; his first store after 12 years working in the Domino’s business. He is very pleased with initial trading.

“The newest stores demonstrate the best of Domino's, with a welcoming atmosphere for customers, and operationally focused kitchens ready to deliver high volumes of orders.”

In Germany, CEO Stoffel Thijs said the first store in Buchholz, south of Hamburg, was an impressive achievement for franchisees Armin Bundt and Maik Bergmann. The two friends are passionate about pizza and have extensive experience: Armin was most recently the store manager for the Domino’s Stade store, while Maik was the store manager for Domino’s Buxtehude store.

“The opening of the Buchholz store is testament to Domino’s ability to provide a pathway from experienced store managers to franchisees and even multi-unit franchisees,” Stoffel said.

“It’s particularly exciting this newest store broke the record for the highest sales for an opening week, set just five months earlier by the team in Gotha – showing the value the Domino’s brand is delivering.”

New franchisee Armin Bundt said: "We are looking forward to the new location and want to deliver the best pizzas to Buchholz residents in the shortest possible time.

“We are especially looking forward to everyone who comes to visit us in the store - because we will spend most of our time there ourselves.”

Andre Ten Wolde, Europe Chief Operating Officer, said the pace of store openings would increase towards the end of December.

“We are on track – historically we have tended to have a higher number of stores open towards the end of the first, and second halves. That will be very clear to those who will see the openings visible on our website, particularly towards the end of December and June.

“After seeing a record number of stores opened in the Group by our AGM this year, our team are feeling positive about delivering in the months ahead – including our first store to open in Luxembourg in the next few weeks.”

Domino’s will be conducting an investor roadshow to Europe in 2020, week commencing April 20. This will include site visits and management briefings in France, and Germany.
